Woman cuts and runs from court

A 30-year-old woman has jumped the dock and escaped from custody as she appeared in a NSW court on traffic-related charges.

Police say Amanda Gall was awaiting sentencing in the local court in Raymond Terrace, north of Newcastle, about 11.30am (AEST) yesterday.

"At the time of the incident she was secured in the dock inside the courtroom," a police spokesman said today.

"Prior to Corrective Services attending the court room, the woman jumped out of the dock and ran towards the door.

"Following a struggle with police, the woman escaped."

Anyone who has information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the Lower Hunter Local Area Command on 02 4934 0200, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
